Letters from children: 31,034 letters for Santa Claus
During Advent, Swiss Post once again supported Santa Claus by replying to the tens of thousands of letters sent by children throughout Switzerland. From the beginning of December 2025, a total of 31,034 letters arrived from all over the country. The sizeable volume of letters shows that this firmly anchored tradition is still very much alive, even if Santa Claus received slightly fewer letters than last year.

For several decades now, children have taken up their pens during Advent to send their wishes, drawings or questions to Santa. To cope with this influx, a team of eight postal elves is mobilized each year in a special Santa Claus branch in Ticino. These elves collect and sort the letters by language, so that each message can receive a reply.
Trends observed
- Slight decrease in volume: the total number of letters decreased by 2% compared to the previous year.
- Increased participation by schools: 376 schools organized a group essay last year, enabling 6,577 students to send a group letter to Santa Claus.
- Stable regional distribution: about 60% of letters come from French-speaking Switzerland, about 20% from German-speaking Switzerland and 20% from Ticino.
